Summary

Rock star drummer Bishop Riley doesn't have a drug problem. Celebrities—especially ones suffering from anxiety—just need a little help taking the edge off sometimes. After downing a few too many pills, Bishop wakes up in the hospital facing an intervention. If he wants to stay in the band, he’ll have to detox while under house arrest in Seldon, Alaska.

Hockey player Penny Jones can't imagine a life outside of Seldon. Though she has tons of scholarship offers to all the best schools, the last thing she wants is to leave. Who'll take care of her absentminded gramps? Not her mother, who can’t even be bothered to come home from work, let alone deal with their new tenants next door.

Penny’s not interested in dealing with Bishop’s crappy attitude, and Bishop’s too busy sneaking pills to care. Until he starts hanging out with Gramps and begins to see what he’s been missing. If Bishop wants a chance with the fiery girl next door, he’ll have to admit he has a problem and kick it. Too bad addiction is hard to kick…and Bishop’s about to run out of time.

When big shot rockstar, Bishop Riley, almost dies from an overdose, his mother and manager ship him and his ‘babysitter’ off to Alaska. In Alaska he discovers what it mean to be genuinely happy, really in love and how much fun snow can be.  Bishop has issues. He has his pill popping addiction from his serious case of anxiety, something that has no place in his big rockstar/ drummer persona. All with him going on stage so much. After he OD’d, that shook everyone up enough for them to admit that he has a problem. Bishop, of course, is in complete denial of his near death because of addiction experience which basically makes him a jerk for the first few weeks of being out of his sunny California. I liked him immediately. I know. I know. How strange that you like a complete jerk who obviously has problem. Jackie, do you not have enough issues? Seriously? Okay, inner self. That is enough.  Obviously he want a jerk the entire book or he would not have a proud place on my book boyfriend shelf.

Penny was SUCH a strong female lead. She was fearless, and even when she had fear, she didn’t show it and got over it as quickly as it came. She’s a freaking hockey player. How. Cool. Her whole jock persona kind of reminded me of Jordan from Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally. You could tell that they were gonna mellow the other out right off the bat. Penny was the one person who would not put up with any of Bishop’s crap. And Bishop was the one person, besides her grandfather, who called her on her crap. They were amazing for each other. Oh young love. Penny is tough. Not just regular fake tough that a lot of authors have their female leads wear but a deep ‘don’t mess with me’ tough. The guys respect and fear her for that.

Back to Bishop. As he gradually sees what he has become by spending so much time with Penny and Gramps, he realizes he doesn’t like what he’s become one bit. He wants to be a person they can both be proud of knowing and loving. With all the secrecy, romance and tough girl attitude, I don’t see how anyone could not like this beautiful book!

As you can most likely tell, I though this book was amazing! The character were really well constructed with their unique personalities, strengths and set of issues. This novel was candy sweet with a touch of tragedy.
I was amazed by how well the plot was put together. Everything felt fully explained and when everything fell into place I was totally cheering all the characters on. Also, I loved how Becca got engrained into the storyline.

Overall, this book is a must read for all those looking for a simple and sweet romance with a girl hockey player and a mega hot rockstar with issues to boot!

Okay, who has read this book? Were you as amazed as I was? What did you think about her being a hockey player?
