Summary

Paige Kelly is used to weird--in fact, she probably corners the market on weird, considering that her best friend, Dottie, has been dead since the 1950s. But when a fire demon attacks Paige in detention, she has to admit that things have gotten out of her league. Luckily, the cute new boy in school, Logan Bradley, is a practiced demon slayer-and he isn't fazed by Paige's propensity to chat with the dead. Suddenly, Paige is smack in the middle of a centuries-old battle between warlocks and demons, learning to fight with a magic sword so that she can defend herself. And if she makes one wrong move, she'll be pulled into the Dark World, an alternate version of our world that's overrun by demons-and she might never make it home

AHHHHH!!! PEOPLE! GO AND GET THIS BOOK NOW! I beg you. This, my friends, is a breathtaking, heart pounding book with a totally swoon-worthy boy with a rather large secret. The Dark World is a hilarious book with witty humor, demons, warlocks and ghosts. (Shout out to Dottie, the 1950’s ghost with awesome dating advice!) We have demons after Paige, the girl who can talk to both the Dark and Light world, also known as a Traveler and a valuable weapons for both the warlocks and the demons. She has people after talent, but there’s a tiny issue with the whole using her power causing her to get weaker and die. Just a tiny issue. Also, Logan the dude who was assigned to protect her, *swoonnsss* and their whole relationship was just *muffles laughter*

So let’s talk about Logan. I mean what’s all the fuss about? Right?

Fine. I’ll just show you.
Exhibit A: “In the story of my life, that's where you cracked the spine of the book. The mark is there, forever tattooed on my narrative and I couldn't be happier.”  WOAH MAN WOAH! He’s writes letters. He can actually write. Oh sweetlord, someone (preferably Logan) catch me. A hot, sweet, shy, strong, funny boy who can write. I’m done. I am so done. *grins like a maniac*

Exhibit B: He messed up guys. I know, I was shocked too. But he admitted his mistake and he tried to remedy it in the simplest yet utterly romantic way: he was going to wait for her to come to terms with the secret and wait for her to talk to him when she was ready. *le sigh* And when she did talk to him he was so so so sweet and understanding and sorry and he thought that they were over. She was all like I don’t think so, not yet anyway. And he was so happy. She was like I have a few questions. He was just like anything. I’ll tell you anything. Just please don’t leave. Not in those exact words but God, it was perfect.  They just sat and talked. This book was totally PG- there was hardly any kissing even but lord was it romantic. Their dynamic was just pure awesome. They were comfortable with each other, but shy and timid. They laughed and fought and saved and hoped and helped the other have somewhere to belong.

Can you tell I like romance? This wasn’t even the biggest part of the book though.

Yes, there’s more. . .

The biggest part was the fact that Paige was wanted by both sides of the revolution. After an accident she was able to talk to ghosts. When the Dark Worlders find out about this, they send demons to abduct her and Logan protects her and teaches her to fight. It amazes me how strong and brave she was. She wasn’t whiny and weak like a lot of female leads when they have a male to look out for them. That sold me on this book right there. Okay, fine, maybe it just made it more appealing.

The plot was intriguing and the characters were kick butt and the writing was perfect for this kind of book.  The dynamic, Dottie, the romance, the action, the plot, the questions and the very high school like high school made this book the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump!

So...quite the rant. I really hope y'all ran to go get your hands on this lovely little book. The only complaint I really have is about the cover. Her face just doesn't seem right. You know?
So what are y'all's thoughts on the cover?
On Logan?
Oh, and he's mine. So paws off.
