Review of Book 1: Song of the Moon

What can I say? I loved it. Everything about it. Werewolves have been taken to the next level of amazingness!
I'm pretty sure I grinned like a psychotic manic through a good portion of this book. Or laughed like one. Although I don't usually like the whole pack scene...I loved this one! They all slept together. Not like that-get your head out of the gutter!! Then there was the whole playful puppy thing in the limo...
It also has a whole mystery vibe going through the entire book (well at least until the Vampire thing happened) You kept wondering 'whats her other half' And I did. AND IN THE END O.O Goodness, I was all like...no this is like a scary movie. Do not stray from the group! Stay with the group! YOUR NOSE LIES!!! And then I though () was gonna rip () head off. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!!!!
I liked how the writing was not rushed at all. Near the end there was a lot of loose ends to tie up and they ended up perfectly...well almost. This book leaves you on a definite cliff hanger!

Review of Series

I love the series thus far. The author was kind enough to grant me these books in exchange for an honest review. YAY(:  This is a collection of short books (approx 100 pages each) and none of them felt rushed at all!!! *applause* I love the love interests in these books. Their characters are described very well and very thoroughly. I felt like I really knew each of them. What happened at the end of the second book (no I'm not telling you, read it for yourself) left me majorly freaked out. And then what happened at the end of the third.....I don't know what to do with my life anymore.

I felt like the cliffhangers were very good for making the reader want to read the next book, but they felt a little forced. I gave the first two books 3.5-4 stars and then the third one 3 stars. The cliffhanger on that one is very good, I just don't like it when authors throw a baby in the mix. Sorry, I just don't. Well, I guess I do sometimes. It just depends on the book. *shrugs*

In the beginning of each new book, it starts out with the last chapter from the previous book. I've never seen this before, but I really liked it. I frequently forget what happened in the previous book and usually end up having to re read (not that I mind, but once you get a new book, you kinda just want to read it) the previous book.

I look forward to reading the last book in the series ( published this year). This is gonna be good :3 I do hope that the lest book will be longer than the first three. I would like to see more action. Please?

ISBN: 0312642962 (ISBN13: 9780312642969)
edition language: English
original title: Scarlet
Rating: 4 Stars
Summary:
The fates of Cinder and Scarlet collide as a Lunar threat spreads across the Earth...

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.
Rant:
“We met less than a week ago and in that time I've done nothing but lie and cheat and betray you. I know. But if you give me a chance...all I want is to protect you. To be near you. For as long as I'm able.”

First of all: Kai, I wish to slap you. Hard. On your face. Repeatedly. Idiot-_- CINDER WARNED YOU!!!
Second of all: Wolf- You are amazing. You are not the bad guy. You and Scarlet= perfection
Third of all: Although Scarlet is a tough girl- Cinder you, sweetie, are still my favorite. Even though now.....-_- KAI

Okay time for the rant:

Haha, so I was all bat crazy for this book, bugging my librarian like everyday for a week. Anyway, this book, sadly, did not live up to expectations. But Wolf did (;

This is the kind of book you want to curl up with some Tagalongs (hey it is Girl Scout season afterall) and just read read read till the book is over. But, the emotions and attachment I felt for the characters in Cinder just weren't there in Scarlet. Pooh.

Hummsie, I don't really know what to say.

Uhhhh okay. So I loved the who Red Riding Hood origination in this. And, dude, Grandmother was AWESOME!!! Lunar boyfriend anyone?

Picture this: Captured by the enemy, staying silent for the only thing left you have worth living for-Your granddaughter. You have an idiot son and the one you love the most falls for the one who captured you and held you here to be tortured.

Ahh and then there's wolf. Some one sent on a mission and never imagined falling in love: Alpha Female? Yes, Please.

“But you're the only one, Scarlet. You'll always be the only one.”
Haha and I love how Cinder's old life was incorporated in this one. Cinder is by far the strongest character. She has her best friend in a ship.....literally. Another guy....maybe? Nah. And shes a princess who has a price on her head AND to top it all off, her aunt wants to kill her.

Ohhh I really wish I could tell you (.......) but I don't wanna have to put a spoiler alert on this.

It's dramatic. And you'll hate Kai. Forever.
I hate you Kai.

Enclave by Ann Aguirre #1

Hardcover, 259 pages
Published April 12th 2011 by Feiwel & Friends
(first published April 11th 2011)
ISBN: 0312650086 (ISBN13: 9780312650087)

Rating: 4 Stars

Summary:

 WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE

In Deuce’s world, people earn the right to a name only if they survive their first fifteen years. By that point, each unnamed ‘brat’ has trained into one of three groups–Breeders, Builders, or Hunters, identifiable by the number of scars they bear on their arms. Deuce has wanted to be a Huntress for as long as she can remember.

As a Huntress, her purpose is clear—to brave the dangerous tunnels outside the enclave and bring back meat to feed the group while evading ferocious monsters known as Freaks. She’s worked toward this goal her whole life, and nothing’s going to stop her, not even a beautiful, brooding Hunter named Fade. When the mysterious boy becomes her partner, Deuce’s troubles are just beginning.

Down below, deviation from the rules is punished swiftly and harshly, and Fade doesn’t like following orders. At first Deuce thinks he’s crazy, but as death stalks their sanctuary, and it becomes clear the elders don’t always know best, Deuce wonders if Fade might be telling the truth. Her partner confuses her; she’s never known a boy like him before, as prone to touching her gently as using his knives with feral grace.

As Deuce’s perception shifts, so does the balance in the constant battle for survival. The mindless Freaks, once considered a threat only due to their sheer numbers, show signs of cunning and strategy… but the elders refuse to heed any warnings. Despite imminent disaster, the enclave puts their faith in strictures and sacrifice instead. No matter how she tries, Deuce cannot stem the dark tide that carries her far from the only world she’s ever known.

Rant:

“There were different kinds of strength. I knew that now. It didn't always come from a knife or a willingness to fight. Sometimes it came from endurance, where the well ran deep and quiet. Sometimes it came from compassion and forgiveness.”

Omg. I finished this book in one day and dude...I was amazed. Beware: there are spoilers in this rant

In the beginning it felt like she was alone, even among her friends and when she was paired with Fade...it was like the whole one and the same thing going on. It was nice. And later when she saved Stone-I was amazed by how easily they..I don't know. Gave her up? Betrayed her? Forgot the history they had with her? I was disappointed in them none the less.

“I never belonged anywhere until I met you.”

Fade and her were just that: Fade and Deuce. They were unstoppable and were two halves of a whole. But, I'm not sure if what they had was love. Yah know? It was more like a partnership.
When he sorta declared his feelings for her and she didn't really know how to respond...he walked away. She said she felt that she was disappointing him.
Then they met Stalker. Well not really met..more that captured and then welll.....

“He was the heat of a fire and the sweetness of the moon I'd only just met.”

This is where my emotions get torn in half. Team Stalker or Team Fade? I just don't know.
Dove. How cute of a nickname is that? And the reason he gives??? Oh, yes. (:
She teaches him how to read. He teaches her more ways to fight.
.....then he says he loves her because they are both hunters. I do not like that reason.
Ugh.
Just go away.
I have no idea anymore.....

Summary:
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

What I think and a few Quotes...

I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I seriously laughed out loud so much while reading it-and my family can testify to that!
Okay, so basically this book has three major themes: discovering who you really are, love or lust and friends can change and won't always last forever. The last one's not as present as much as the other two though.
“I think he likes you" Miranda Whispered.
Realizing she and Derek had drawn attention, she glanced away. "He's probably just curious about me like everyone else" she whispered back.
"Nope. He's hot for you" Della said, reminding Kylie of the supernatural hearing of some of the campers. "When he was sitting by you at lunch, he oozed so much testosterone that it was hard to breathe. He wants your body" Della teased.

"Well, he's not getting it" Kylie said.”

 Love=Derek
Lust=Lucas
Kylie is dealing with a super hard time right now. Her parents are getting a divorce but she doesn't understand why. (she finds out later in the novel though) Her supposed Ice Queen mom and 'perfect' dad (my eyes are rolling here) seemingly don't want her anymore and send her off to a camp for 'troubled' teens-which is really a camp for supernaturals. Through this a ghost plagues her night terror and her reality. At the camp she sorta discovers who she is-not what, and get's caught is a really well portrayed love triangle. (Lucas&Kylie&Derek)
Personally I'm team Derek all the way...well almost all the way. Hey rivers are really nice....
And although her ex Trey and her ex BFF Sara are in the book a bit, they don't really play a huge part in it. I liked that. Oh and Holiday is AMAZING and sweetie....are you blind? Burnett has the hots for you...... *shakes head it pity*
“I mean, if your about to tell me something like I'm dead, that i need to start acquiring a taste for blood, and I can't even eat sushi, I wont be able to handle it. Or if you're going to tell me that I'm going to start howling at the moon, eating peoples cats, and will spend the rest of my life having to get waxed if I want to wear a bathing suit, then I don't think I can handle it, either. I like cats and I tried waxing once, and that hurt like a son of a gun." -Kylie”
I thought the cover was really fitting. Now I'm kinda digging deep here. Kylie is standing in the middle of a tree with a fork. Kinda like a fork in the road, yah know? It kinda symbolizes that things are gonna change and she's gonna have to choose-she can't have both. Mom or Dad. Old friends or new ones. Old LIFE or new one. To stay at the camp or go. Lucas or Derek. All of these are choices and yeah, tree in half, her in the middle. And besides that, it's just a really cool cover. I'm just little ol' me. Appreciating the deeper meaning.
So yeah. 4 Stars
