I want it soo darn bad. plz oh plz oh plz just finish the freakin book. por favor. i will fangirl for you! i want this fiiinnished. what is the old lady gonna talk about? what really happens when their 'married off'? why is the baby fake? Will she and Tristan be together? Whats the deal with Alec? Whos the ghost and why can only she see it? who left her the message? GIVE ME MORE TRISTAN! who alecs boyfriend? whats with ivy? why are the ghosts eyes bloody like the girl that she and Tristan talked about? GIVE ME MORE!!!! This is so wrong. Rant:

First, I have to say, I adore this book. The connections in this book were pretty amazing. I'm going to do something new and I don't know if I'm gonna continue to do this. We'll see.

That was the new thing in case you can't see it. I always forget their names...

Okay so here's the thing, I don't want Kira and Marcus to be together. They seem more like really good friends who have known each other forever and know all the others secrets. No. Sorry- that seems like a definition for a guy best friend. Not a guy you want to spend the rest of your life with. So yeah, I want Samm and Kira together. They've only known each other for a little while. And she experimented on him....no she gathered data. They protect each other. They will be together.

Okay lets move onto Haru and Madison. In the beginning I liked Haru. In the end I wanted to strangle him. In the beginning I thought Madison was weak. In the end I wanted to hug her. (by the way, I don't do hugs so that is kinda a big deal)

Jayden....I liked him. Towards the beginning I though that he kinda liked Kira, but later I saw that he thought of her the way he thought of Madison (sister-like) Oh and Madison and him are the only real related relatives left in the entire world.

Xochi: I really don't have much to say about her. I liked her music obsession. And her trust in Kira.

Tovar. I am so confused.

Hummm. Okay what else is there to say without spoiling everything?? Eh. Not much.

Partials have petroleum and humans don't.

.....partials don't - nope wait. Can't say that.

.....Samm be- nope can't tell you that either.

Oh! I can tell you that Madison gets pregnant and that is mostly what sets Kira off.

Okay, let's try this.

Strongest Character: I think that Kira is by far the strongest and character. She risks everything so that people can have a future. She doesn't think of partials as the enemy, she just doesn't think of them as friends. Kira is a medic and she personally feels responsible for all the deaths of the babies she's is trying to save. She doesn't feel like she is doing enough. So, of course, she goes to capture what started everything. A Partial.

Weakest Character: I think that Xochi is the weakest character because she lets her hatred for her 'mother' rule every decision she has. It's rather annoying.

So, should you read this? Yes, yes you should!

My Splurge:

 

Zombies in a modern Renaissance Era? Yes, please!
I had amazingly high hopes for this book since the first one exceeded what I thought it would be. Sadly, this book did not meet them. I thought the book was told from way too many perspectives. I would have liked to have just Bram and Nora's perspective. I though having Laura, Mink and Micheal's POVs were unnecessary.

“Nora was the only thing that made sense. She was the only unchanging thing in my universe. She was my lodestar. No matter which way my emotions and circumstances and the impulses of my dead, dying, trying body pulled me, no matter how many mistakes I made, she was always true north. Sometimes I’d side with the dead, sometimes with the living, but always with her.” 

 

Also, I wish we saw Bram and Nora together a bit more. (LOVE the ending by the way) GIRL POWER!!!!
I love Smoke! He's this destructive creature that is tamed by Nora, or as he calls her 'Book Girl.' Hehe, I like that title.
I was very disappointed in Coalhouse. It made me sad. Honestly, I really liked him in Book One and in this one he just kind of fell apart. It was like he no longer see the value in, well, him. And I thought Laura was a bit cruel.

“I’m here for every bit of your life. The bad parts, the scary parts. And I vow to do all you ask of me that is fair … even at the end.” I knew I didn’t have to elaborate; I could see that he’d gotten it, and that it moved him. "

 

 

I adore Bram. I like how he thinks of Nora as utterly adorable but as tough as nails. He's just so cautious around her. It was super cute how he didn't tell her he loved her because he didn't want to scare her off. Even if that did annoy the crap out of me.....

So like 3.5/5 stars for me.

 Callie and Kayden are both broken, shattered by people who are supposed to love them are at least tolerate them. They both are reaching their breaking point. Callie is the weird girl. She was fine until her 12th birthday....then she changed and no one knows why. When she goes off to college she meets Seth(LOVE HIM) He's broken also. They heal each other. She was raped and he was beaten by his boyfriend and his football player 'friends.' 

“That’s you. Callie, you’re the only person that’s ever made me feel happy about anything. That night you saved me, you changed something in me—you made me want to live.”

Kayden goes off later to the same college that she does and then THE STARS FREAKIN ALIGN!!!! YESSS!!!

Callie has a thing for helping people-Seth, Kayden, Luke(Kayden's best friend) but she never does it consciously. She's a good person. She has an inner strengh I love. She thinks of herself as weak but she's stronger than them all-especially Kayden. KAYDEN WHY DID YOU DO THAT!?! Okay I know why but that's not a very good thing to do.....

Kayden hides his secret life of constant beatings from his father at home. He hides from prying eyes. Callie saves him from being beaten to death by his father. He's so scared and vulnerable for that one moment in time. She's so diligent in the task for caring for him.....I liked it because it showed how he finally felt safe. Safe with her.
 
 “I've never felt like this before, with anyone. It's against the rules of surviving.”

The Cliff-hanger in this book made me wanna cry and throw my Kindle against the wall. Hard. And possibly break it...but I didn't cuz I love my Kindle.



 Soo Darling.... As you can see, I adore this book and fail to find a single thing wrong with it....which is rare for me. I'm a picky person. But, luck you(and me)this is only the first one in the series! Sad for you(and me) we are being told we have to wait until the END OF FEBRUARY to get it. Pooh. -_-

Why I love, adore, this utterly amazing book and hereby give is 4.99999 stars.

 This book is AMAZING! The way the author writes flows. There is the perfect amount of description-not too much or too little. Everything is usually explained to my satisfaction. I was a tad bit confused a couple chapters into the book due to the prologue. ----SPOILER BEWARE!!---- Okay, so this is gonna sound creepyish but I love how Charity's first and second love are related. It's not a weird as it sounds, I swear. You have to read the book to understand what I mean. ----END OF SPOILER---
It was something that I could have imagined happening. It was just a really cool setting, plot, character: everything was just really really cool. I just- I don't know....it just got to me. :)

Ok so I pretty much adore this book. It has everything; secrets, tears, tragedy, love, fear, hurt, devastation, renewal, everlasting bonds and above all friendship.I know that Carey is gay and all and left her to fend for herself while he went off to war but I just couldn't bring myself to hate him. It was obvious that while he was not in love with Quinn(Sophie) he did lover her. The only thing I would change would be that Quinn and Blake end up together. I love Blake so much and he and Quinn were each others halves. Although Quinn did not see it at first, Blake saw it, Felt It, from the start. It was pure and beautiful and real. Not much is Real Love these days. I love how this book was a marines novel, it gave it a depth that a lot of other books don't usually have.
Even though Quinn didn't know she was lost, Blake found her, that is what kind of made their on of a kind, almost forbidden love all the more amazing and perfect. It was like through everything she had been through, Blake was always there.
I-I just can't describe how much I love this book. If only.....If only she didn't move into her mother's home before she went off to college and stayed with Blake everything would have been perfect. I mean, I get that whole 'You have to forgive to heal' and what-not, but Sophie can forgive from afar. The people at home (Blake, her dad, and Carey) need her more than her mom does.
This book is a military novel that will make me want a love like Sophie has the ability to possess forever. This book is truly one of a kind and will be treasured in my memory forever and always.

First of all-I love all the covers. The cover of the one my friend gave me to read is the first one.

Here are my thoughts on the novel.

  2.5 stars
This book had me addicted..but I really didn't like it.
The writing style was cool. I liked how in the beginning Michael thoughts all had a lowercase 'i' instead of an uppercase 'I' like was used in the end. To me the lowercase signaled vulnerability and the uppercase gave me a sense of new found strength. I loved how for Leesie's thoughts all of it was in chat or poems.How you were never told what was happening to her outright, how it was always told in poetry really spoke to me.
I get how Michael was all broken up about the hurricane, but he was more moody than a girl with PMS and it was really starting to piss me off. It was obvious that they both needed the other-maybe thats why I hate the ending so much-but OMG get a freaking grip. She's doing the best she can, he should have respected that more. I didn't really get that Isadore was a hurricane until later in the book. I wish I got that sooner.
There was a lotta things I wish I could change but its not my book.
Oh, and I loved that she was Mormon!

What I think: I'm still not sure if I am going to read the second one. The first one didn't give me much hope. Also, as horrible as it sounds, I really, really hate Michael. He drives me insane. What I really hope for in the end is that Lessie is okay.
