ARC for Review
Buttoned-up Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is dangerous on every level. As a human, she poses a threat to Marine Captain Jax Raymond’s special Force Recon unit. Though the team has a reputation among the other recon units, only their commanding officer knows their secret. As a woman, the danger posed is entirely different. Jax can survive the temptation for only so long before his wolf takes over and pursues what it wants.
Military intelligence specialist Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is the first woman in the Marines to be assigned to a recon team. And everyone’s watching her. Her mission? Not only prove herself worthy of her place in the group, but uncover the mystery of why Bravo Team is so successful. A mission that gets more difficult every time she’s near Jax…
Werewolves are my ultimate weakness. Don’t know why. Don’t especially
care why. All I know for sure, is that I’m relatively positive that my werewolf
soulmate is out there SOMEWHERE. (I won’t rest until I find them)
The clear majority of the werewolves I read about are of the
Wattpad variety. Any of y’all who are users of this truly blessed app (which I’ve
deleted and then reinstalled more than I care to admit) know that there are reoccurring
themes in much of books with our part-time furry friends.
The dudes are redeemed misogynists, equal parts possessive and
aggressive, and either sleep with every female on sight or only deem their mate as someone ‘worthy’ of being slept with.
*shudders* Pardon my disgust with the sum of it all.
Side note: can we get
some ace werewolf books, please?
The girls are either dainty-ass flowers who will break if
you so much as look at them the wrong way, ex-broken girls who are not going to
destroy the world and wreak havoc, or are the one ‘special’ (often white) wolf
who is the savior of the not-free world.
While these are guilty pleasures of mine, they’re all fifty
shades of messed up.
Where am I going with all of this, you ask? Great question!
When Danger Bites is the exact opposite of these tropes. We
have men who freaking respect women as people and not as a lesser sex. The protectiveness
comes out of the fact that werewolves are literally like indestructible and
humans are like your mom’s nice vase next to them. The protectiveness doesn’t
make them stop HER from doing what she wants. She is recognized as an
independent human being who is capable of her own decision making.
All of that along with the actual plot (secrets, people
going over the heads of others, ect.) makes for a super fun read. I felt
empowered AND entertained by the end of When Danger Bites—I’m here for it.
Like, really here for it.
I love the whole dynamic of this book and the people in it.
I honestly don’t have a single bad thing to say about it. READ IT, LOVELY.
