Summary

Their love could destroy them all.

Through the ages, Marked Ones have harnessed the powers of the four elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air. Much about the elements is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain: A relationship between two Marked Ones has the potential to cause widespread devastation.

Megan and Adam—Air and Water—are determined to defy the risks.

But the power that swirls inside Megan is growing in twisted ways. And the closer she is to Adam, the closer Megan comes to unleashing a dark force that could spell destruction for the entire Marked line.

CARRIER OF THE MARK had an epically noteworthy beginning that was brought down to a near nothing buy the lack of anything worth thinking about in the second book of the series, SHADOW OF THE MARK. Am I serious? Yup. There’s no surprise that I adored the first book in this saga. It had everything: action, romance, suspense. Where Carrier shined, Shadow was very weak. Pooh.

The book starts on the first day back hoping for a semi normal life. But of course, if our star crossed lovers had a normal boring existence, there would be no book. And so our book sets off on a whirlwind adventure of stolen kisses, long lost secrets, dead people who aren’t so dead and a startling revelation that changes everything.

Now I would love to say that this book exceeded my wildest expectation, but it didn’t. Honestly, there wasn’t much I did like about the book. Our beloved characters changed for the worse and weren’t like their usual fun, courageous selves. They were scared and took unnecessary risks. I felt like I was missing out on a lot when the scenes randomly skipped through what I thought would have been made a bigger deal out of.

The romance in the book was sketchy at best. I was confused about who as attracted to who, why some people still trusted some people and why some people were still even together.

Overall, I expected more out of one of my favorite series of 2012.  Who's read this? What did you think? Did y'all like the ending?

  1. It's always disappointing when a series you like goes downhill in the middle - I hope you find some better reads soon!

  2. I just picked up this one and the first book, for an amazing deal! Because everyone seemed to LOVE the first book. Sorry to hear that you didn't like it as much as you expected to, but thank you for an honest review! I'll have to start these soon, and see what I think.
