Of Triton {Review}

Hardcover, 246 pages
Published May 28th 2013 by Feiwel & Friends
ISBN: 1250003334
In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

Well hello there all you lovely people who happen to have popped by to read this review.

This book is readable. It was readable but I liked it no where near as much as the first one. With Of Poseidon, I was obsessed. I was intrigued by the romance and the situation and who she was and who Emma was becoming.  With Of Triton I was disappointed. Maybe if the first book wasn't so freaking amazing I wouldn't have had such astronomical expectations. But I did.

Everything in Of Triton felt rushed. Not fast paced. Rushed. And if you have read some of my other review, you know this is one of my biggest pet peeves and the main reason I don't read novellas.

Honestly, I liked the romance a lot better in Of Poseidon than in Of Triton. I did think that when Emma went down into the kingdom to sort of save Galen's world from their own stupidity, it was amazing. Anna did a really good job on that scene and it was by far my favorite in the book. Especially when she asked a by stander to pick a shark. *smirks* That was an amazinggg entrance.

Let's face it. The book was short and over quick, but there were some points where I was like 'get on with it already!' For such a short, rushed read, it sure dragged on.

As I said before, maybe if book one wasn't so fabulous I wouldn't have been so sad with the outcome.

Even though I didn't like this as much I'm still looking forward to Of Neptune.

  1. I have heard some really good things about this the first book. I have not read it myself because I have a very hard time with novellas. Either they are too fast or too slow for my liking.
I hope that you have better luck with the next book! thanks for the honest review!

    1. Well, the first book isn't really a novella, it's short but not novella least I don't think so...hmm. & Thanks! I just finished Ink by Amanda Sun and I am IN LOVE <3
      Thanks for stopping by

  2. Rushed is one of my personal pet peeves as well. It's always extra disappointing when the first book is amazing and the sequel is not. Thanks for sharing your review!

    1. Goodness I HATE when the book is rushed. And I totally agree, and Of Poseidon was amazingggg
      Happy reading

  3. Oh. Oh this is disappointing. >: I was looking forward to reading this book too. Ugh. Rushed, you say? Well, this'll still be on my TBR pile just not a priority.
